Selected Essays from the National Essay Contest on Human rights for Junior High School Students -Hansen's disease related essays-

Organizer: The Ministry of Justice

The Ministry of Justice has been conducting its National Essay Contest on Human Rights for Junior High School Students since 1981. The purpose of the contest is to instil a strong sense for human rights in those who will be leading the next generation. By writing about the issues of human rights, the Ministry hopes to help students deepen their understanding of the importance and necessity of respect for human rights, as well as cultivate a healthy sensivity towards human rights. Over the last 4 years, essays are gathered nationwide from more than 900,000 junior high school students. Of these, a certain number address the subject of Hansen's disease. In this booklet, we have taken the opportunity to introduce four of the particularly outstanding, award-winning essays.

The booklets are for take-free in the Iwate International Association, Aiina 5F.
